Safe Arrival Program

Attendance

Although children should be attending school everyday, we realize that there are times when this is not possible. At Glenmerry Elementary we have a “Safe Arrival Program” and utilize the School Messenger system.  Parents and Guardians have the option to download the School Messenger App for Apple or Android phones/tablets. This new tool makes it faster and easier to report absences, and lets parent choose how to receive communications from schools.

With Safe Arrival, you are asked to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these 3 convenient methods:
  1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or go to https://go.schoolmessenger.com/#/account/signup.The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
  2. Use the Safe Arrival website go.schoolmessenger.ca. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
  3. Call the toll-free number is 1-833-284-2716 to report an absence using the automated phone system.
These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.
The SchoolMessenger App will contact parents when a child's absence has not been reported. The automated notification system will attempt to contact parents at multiple contact points until a reason is submitted for the absence.

If you report your child’s absence in advance using the Safe Arrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.

Lates

It is expected that students will arrive to school on time. Students who arrive late disrupt the learning of others and often miss important concepts. Students arriving late should check into the office. A phone call to the office (or a note to a teacher) for expected late arrivals is appreciated.
